Course Title: Senior Year Journey to Graduation and Scholarships for College or Trade School

Course Format: Online, Self-Paced

Course Fee: $125

Students receive full access to all course materials designed to help them independently navigate the scholarship and college application process. Ideal for motivated students who prefer to work at their own pace with clear direction.

Congratulations—you’re a senior! It probably feels like just yesterday you were walking into your first day of kindergarten, and now here you are, in your final year of high school. Whether you’re feeling ready or not, this is the year to make big moves toward your future—and there’s a lot to get done.

This course is designed to guide you through every important step of your senior year, especially when it comes to preparing for life after graduation. If you took my earlier course,

Building a High School Career that Leads to Being Competitive for Post-High School Scholarships, you’ve already been laying the groundwork: strong grades, challenging classes, community service, leadership, job experience, and more. If that sounds like you—great! You’re already ahead. But if you’re just getting started, don’t worry. This course will meet you where you are and help you build a solid plan for what comes next.

You will work on building your student résumé, gathering recommendation letters, writing strong essays, and applying for colleges, trade schools, and scholarships. No one can guarantee free money—but with effort, focus, and the right guidance, you’ll give yourself the best possible shot at earning it. Let’s make this year count.

Course Objectives and Goals:

In this course, students will be guided through the essential steps of preparing for graduation and maximizing their chances of earning scholarships for college or trade school. By the end of the semester, students will:

● Create a polished, scholarship-ready student résumé

● Secure strong, personalized letters of recommendation

● Research and apply to colleges or post-secondary training programs

● Draft and refine compelling scholarship essays

● Identify and apply for a range of scholarship opportunities (a curated list will be provided; students and parents are also encouraged to seek additional options)

Required Supplies:

To ensure you are prepared and organized throughout the course, please have the following materials:

● Resume-quality paper (for printed copies of your application materials)

● Clear report folders with a built-in clip (recommended: Amazon Basics Report Folder Cover with Clip, Pack of 10). You should use these for a professional presentation of hard-copy scholarship applications.

● Senior photo (digital copy, to be used for cover pages and presentation materials). Always include a cover page on hard-copy applications that includes your photo!

● Access to Google Docs and basic editing skills (for collaborative writing and feedback with a trusted mentor/teacher trained in writing skills).

These tools will help you present yourself professionally and make a strong impression on scholarship committees and admissions teams.

Assignment Overview: Start Strong in September & October

You might notice that many of the assignments for this course fall in September and October—and that’s on purpose! These early steps are the foundation for everything that comes next. Some of them need to be completed before you can even start applying for scholarships, so getting started early is key.

Once the groundwork is done—résumés, recommendations, and essays—you’ll spend the rest of the year applying for scholarships and opportunities with confidence. Some tasks will only take a few minutes, while others may stretch over several weeks. Either way, every step you take now will make the rest of your senior year less stressful and more successful.

You’ve got a lot on your plate this year, but your future is worth the effort. Set aside time each day (even just an hour!) to focus on this course. Treat it like any other important class—because it’s not just about grades, it’s about setting yourself up for what comes after graduation. Let’s get to work!
